INJURY

Many people hurt, with activities like exercise, gardening, cycling, running, enjoying the outdoors, because the body is not strong enough to withstand the forces of those activities. The result is pain, aching, stiffness and swelling due to two things:

  1. Physical infrastructure - posture, specific muscle imbalances, inflexibility in key areas and movement patterns

  2. Tissue strength - muscle, tendon, cartilage, bone and disc

We address both issues with the following techniques:

  • Unique exercise plan – reps, sets, frequency, intensity and core training– to strengthen injured/weak tissue.

  • Manual Therapy for joint mobilization, myofascial stretching and other manual techniques

  • Kinesiotape  is an effective technique of applying an elastic tape to reduce symptoms of stiffness, aching, pain and swelling.

NEUROLOGICAL

Neurological diseases vary widely in their impact, so we collaborate to create a tailored therapeutic plan that adjusts as your condition changes. We teach self-management skills for various neurological conditions, including:

  • Fibromyalgia: Characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and mood issues, we focus on building strength, improving range of motion, and managing deep muscle pain to prevent flare-ups.

  • Lyme Disease: Transmitted by infected ticks, Lyme disease can lead to musculoskeletal impairments if untreated. We specialize in late-stage Lyme disease, developing personalized treatments to manage and alleviate symptoms.

  • Parkinson's Disease: A progressive disorder affecting movement, our experts conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess posture, strength, flexibility, walking, balance, coordination, and more. We create individualized treatment plans to maintain your activity and independence.

CHRONIC & AUTO IMMUNE DISEASE

Chronic and autoimmune diseases are closely linked to movement and physical activity. Our interdisciplinary approach plays a key role in managing these conditions. For example:

  • Arthritis: Avoiding movement can worsen stiffness and pain. Our physical therapists help you move safely and effectively.

  • Cervical/Lumbar Degenerative Disc Disease: This condition causes neck and arm pain as the cushioning discs in the cervical spine break down. We help manage the disease's effects.

  • Multiple Sclerosis: We assist in strengthening muscles and improving gait, balance, and coordination to maintain mobility and prevent muscle spasms.

  • Spinal Stenosis: This involves the narrowing of spaces within the spine, putting pressure on nerves. Our PT team develops individualized treatments to reduce pain and increase mobility.
